Al-Imaam pbuh
It means the leader , a role model , in general sense and in Islamic terminology ; one who leads Muslims worshippers in prayer .
This title is found in Quran several times to refer to leader and for the Prophet Abraham A.S in Surah Baqarah ; verse ; 124
۞ وَإِذِ ٱبْتَلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِـۧمَ رَبُّهُۥ بِكَلِمَـٰتٍۢ فَأَتَمَّهُنَّ ۖ قَالَ إِنِّى جَاعِلُكَ لِلنَّاسِ إِمَامًۭا ۖ قَالَ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِى ۖ قَالَ لَا يَنَالُ عَهْدِى ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ ١٢٤
˹Remember˺ when Abraham was tested by his Lord with ˹certain˺ commandments, which he fulfilled. Allah said, “I will certainly make you into a role model for the people.” Abraham asked, “What about my offspring?” Allah replied, “My covenant is not extended to the wrongdoers.”
The Prophet Muhammad pbuh was named of Al-Imaam because Allah Kraeem has made him pbuh the Leader for all the humanity till the Day of Judgrment .
He is also called the Imaam as he pbuh has billionos of Muslim followers all over the world .
The poet of the Prophet pbuh Syedna Hassaan bin Saabit said , praising the Prophet pbuh ;
امام لھم یھدیھم الحق جاھداً معلم صدق ان یطیعوہ یھتدوا
” You are their leader , you guide them to the right with effort
You are the teacher 0f the truth , if they will follow you , will find the right path . “
