Introduction of prayer:
Islam is the religion of mankind from Adam (as) to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Qur’an declares this in Surah Ali ‘Imran: 19: إِنَّ ٱلدِّينَ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْإِسْلَـٰمُ ۗ(Certainly, Allah’s only Way is Islam). The understanding of Qur’an and Sunnah, Islamic laws, its prohibited (Haram) and permitted (Halal) can not be achieved without knowledge. Islamic knowledge has the superiority over worldly knowledge as the main goal of this life is to live according to the commands of Islam. The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said if Allah Kareem wants to do good with someone, He makes him comprehend the religion;
“ مَنْ يُرِدِ اللَّهُ بِهِ خَيْرًا يُفَقِّهْهُ فِي الدِّينِ”
Narrated Muawiya:
I heard Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) saying, “If Allah wants to do good to a person, He makes him comprehend the religion. (Bukhari: 71)
The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) used to urge his companion to get knowledge. He (pbuh) said;
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم “ مَنْ سَلَكَ طَرِيقًا يَلْتَمِسُ فِيهِ عِلْمًا سَهَّلَ اللَّهُ لَهُ طَرِيقًا إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ ”
Narrated Abu Hurairah:
that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whoever takes a path upon which to obtain knowledge, Allah makes the path to Paradise easy for him.” (Tirmidhi:2646)
عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم “ مَنْ خَرَجَ فِي طَلَبِ الْعِلْمِ فَهُوَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ
Narrated Anas bin Malik:
that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whoever goes out seeking knowledge, then he is in Allah’s cause until he returns.”(Tirmidhi: 2647)
The Prophet (pbuh) called the act of getting knowledge atonement for sins;
عَنْ سَخْبَرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ “ مَنْ طَلَبَ الْعِلْمَ كَانَ كَفَّارَةً لِمَا مَضَى ”
Narrated ‘Abdullah bin Sakhbarah:
narrated that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Whoever seeks knowledge, he is atoning for what has passed (of sins while doing so).”(Tirmidhi: 2648)
Allah Kareem exalts in degrees those of you who believe, and those who have been granted knowledge;
يَرْفَعِ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مِنكُمْ وَٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْعِلْمَ دَرَجَـٰتٍۢ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌۭ
Allah will elevate those of you who are faithful, and ˹raise˺ those gifted with knowledge in rank. And Allah is All-Aware of what you do.(Surah Al-Mujadalah: 11)
Someone who desires to get knowledge of Islam, he should recite this prayer abundantly.
