Prayer For Sufficient Sustenance/ Job/ Livelihood

Introduction of prayer:

Allah Kareem stated in the previous verse that He the Exalted has created mankind and Jinns to worship Him alone. Allah does not need them to provide Him sustenance but they need Allah Kareem and His blessings. Verily, Allah is the All-Provider, power Owner, and the Most Strong. Those who obey Him will be rewarded with the best rewards, while those who disobey Him will receive the worst punishment from Him. Allah stated that He does not need creatures, but rather, they are in need of Him in all conditions. He is alone their Creator and Provider.

Exposition & virtues of prayer:

Allah is the Creator, the Owner, the Sustainer, the Provider, The Granter of blessings, the Upholder, the Controller, the One with extreme Power so ultimately He is the One Being to be worshipped without any assistant or partner. In this verse, Allah Kareem mentions Him as the Provider, the Most Strong and Firm in His decisions and actions. He Almighty used His three Blessed Names in this prayer;

(1)- ٱلرَّزَّاقُ (The Total Provider):

Allah is the One Who creates all kinds of sustenance for all creatures. He is The One who creates all means of nourishment and gives them their livelihood. He is the provider of growth for all things good for the body, the soul, and the mind. The Qur’an mentions in many verses Allah as the provider;

It is Allah Who created you, then gives you provisions, then will cause you to die, and then will bring you back to life. Can any of your associate-gods do any of this? Glorified and Exalted is He above what they associate with Him ˹in worship˺! (Surah Ar-Rum: 40)

Allah Kareem divides His blessings and provision according to His will, He says;

ٱللَّهُ يَبْسُطُ ٱلرِّزْقَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيَقْدِرُ ۚ

Allah gives abundant or limited provisions to whoever He wills. (Surah Ar-Ra’ad: 26)

All believers should call upon Him for every need as He only is the Real Source of sustenance and power. The Holy Qur’an mentions Him as the Best of providers;

وَٱللَّهُ خَيْرُ ٱلرَّٰزِقِينَ

And Allah is the Best Provider. (Surah Al-Jum’ah: 11)
