[ Prayer of sayyidna Shu’aib (as)]
Introduction of the prayer:
Qur’an leads its believers in every situation by describing the prayers of the prophets. The above mentioned prayer is perfect when one is in trouble of making decision between right and wrong. When it is hard to go with this or that, or when one is surrounded in uncertain conditions.
Background of the prayer:
This is the prayer of Sayyidna Shu’aib (as). He was sent towards the people of Midian. They were tradespeople. His nation has lost the right faith in Allah and they were involved in many ethical down falls. Sayyidna Shu’aib (as) tried his best to guide them to the divine guidance of Allah Kareem. He also warned them the outcomes of disobedience of ignoring divine guidance. But they did not accept his preaching, rather than they threatened Sayyidna Shu’aib (as) and his companions to expel from the city.
When Sayyidna Shu’aib (as) felt that they will not accept his teachings, he supplicated Allah to judge between those who upheld the truth from those rejected it by descending His punishment upon the evildoers.
Guidance from the prayer:
1- Supplicate to Allah in seeking the right way:
One has to face many situations in life when he can not decide or it is hard to get rid of the confusion. The recitation of this prayer will bring ease to him. Qur’an tells us the stories of the prophets, so that we can take guidance from them. This prayer refers to Sayyidna Shu’aib (as) when he was stuck between the truth followers and evil doers of his nation.
2- Prayer for salvation from the evildoers:
Syyidna Shu’aib (as) made this prayer against his people who were far from the right way. Who denied to leave the wrong practice and threatened Allah’s messenger and his companions. At that occasion the prophet Shu’aib (as) prayed against them. So, seeking salvation from the evil doers is the blessed practice of the prophets. We should also follow this practice when we are passing through from the same circumstances. With the blessing of this prayer Allah will provide easiness against them.
3- Making prayer to find truth:
This is the blessed practice of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) to pray for the right way. There are many prayers reported from him (pbuh) in this regard. Two of them are as under;
